Refinding My Practice: Paintings of 2025

After graduating with my art degree in December 2022, I painted occasionally but rarely with consistency. Working as a graphic designer keeps me creative every day, yet the rhythm of design differs from the expressive, intuitive creativity I find in painting.

In 2025, surrounded by inspiring creatives in a new environment, I rediscovered my first love, of putting brush to canvas. This year became a period of exploration—experimenting with studies, trying new compositions and subject matter, and pushing into different techniques. These pieces reflect a renewed curiosity, confidence, and a return to my roots as a painter.

Mystic Burrow

Oil on Canvas | 24” x 18”

Mystic Burrow is a glimpse into a secret world where the lines between fantasy and reality blur. Tucked beneath the surface, this enchanted space invites curiosity, wonder, and the belief that magic might just be real — if you know where to look.

Oklahoma Drag is a celebration of queer joy, resilience, and performance. Inspired by the vibrant drag shows at PonyBoy in OKC, this piece honors the artists who bring color, power, and pride to the stage.

Wearing Chaos Like a Crown

Oil on Canvas Panel | 9” x 12”

Wearing Chaos Like a Crown is an ode to the fierce energy of female punk musicians — women who turn noise into power and rage into art. This piece captures the raw confidence, defiance, and beauty that comes from owning your voice in a world that tries to silence it.

Becoming the Clown

Oil + Mixed Media | 20” x 20”

Becoming the Clown captures a time when I was blindsided by what I believed was good and safe. Vulnerable, I became the fool without realizing it. The clown at the vanity reflects that moment of sudden awareness—made up, exposed, and finally seeing what I couldn’t before.

Rattlin’ Cowboy

Acrylic + Oil Pastels | 20” x 20”

There’s a snake in my boot!
